About Susan

Welcome and thank you for visiting! Here is where I invite you to get to know me.
I`m Susan Brennan, the proud owner of Lucky Mutz Pet Sitting and Dog Walking! I can only think of two years my entire life that I was without a dog. Animals have always been my passion and pretty much anyone that knows me will confirm that!

Animals have always tugged at my heart, you might even say that I like them more than people. I have rescued pigs, rehabbed a baby raccoon, saved birds, released baby sea turtles into the ocean, swam with dolphins in the wild, raised litters of pups and trained many dogs.

I began my career as a hair designer at 18 and built two salons and day spas of my own plus opened and ran two additional ones for others. Yes, I enjoyed providing hair and spa services for everyone and prided myself on giving the best customer service possible. I believe in going above and beyond to deliver the best experience for the guest. These standards allowed me to grow successful and sustaining businesses.

In 2010 we moved to NE Pennsylvania and then Nashville, Tn. for several years for my husband’s corporate career before returning to the Dayton area in 2017. A place we like to call “home”. While I was gone, I pursued a career as a Board Certified Health and Nutrition Coach. Once again, giving great customer service and taking excellent care of the client.

It was in Nashville that I had my first bad experience while boarding my dog. I have tried other kennels that were okay experiences and I after researching places, thought I was leaving him in good hands. It was quite the opposite. To make a long story short, I`ll just say, due to neglect and a wet kennel, he developed MRSA and after months of treatment, painful recovery, many vet visits, and thousands of dollars, we almost lost out beloved ten year old pet. I knew then, I would always prefer him home, in a safe environment where he was well cared for.

Sadly, I lost my 13 year old beloved Pyrenees, Buckeye, in January of 2017. I know the heartbreak people feel when they lose their fur babies. I had to do something to fill up my grieving heart so I started volunteering with The National Great Pyrenees Rescue. I enjoy working at the local rescue,  and giving the dogs the love, guidance and structure they so deserve. I am fortunate to train under an animal behaviorist and certified trainer. We get them ready to go to their foster homes, and hopefully their forever homes! I`m lucky enough to be an approved foster and am fostering a two year old, one eyed Great Pyrenees!

Fast forward to now. With my entrepreneurial spirit, drive, work ethic and love for animals, I knew it was time to pursue my passion with a pet sitting business.

I have a CPR and Animal First Aid Certification and am Certified in Holistic Animal Healing as a Level 1 and 2 Reiki Practitioner. This has helped me identify illness in pets and make lifesaving decisions while you`re away.

I look forward to meeting you and taking care of your precious pets. “I treat your pets just like you do!”

Warm regards,
Susan

We started Lucky Mutz in 2017 and our mission and goal will always stay the same: "Take great care of your pets, just like you do," in Clayton, Englewood & Vandalia areas. And that means coming to you and your home for more than just a 15-minute visit or to feed them. We routinely walk, play, and train your animal to make sure that they're not just getting love, but they're also getting some well deserved exercise.
